Monday-Friday. Visibility across all shifts.
Major Responsibilities:
- Strategic Planning and Change Management
- 1)Creates strategy and tactical plans to ensure alignment of the work unit with the system and hospital strategic plan.
- 2)Keeps current on changes in the healthcare environment and adapts strategies to the changing environment as needed.
- 3)Identifies and prioritizes change needs based on internal needs and external best practices.
- 4)Communicates in a manner that supports the engagement and motivation of associates in the change process. Manages ambiguity and resistance to reach desired change goal.
- Personnel Management
- 1)Recruit and hire qualified associates to ensure staffing patterns that meet patient demands and allow for balanced work assignments for associates.
- 2)Implement strategies to ensure the ongoing growth and development of associates and a professional practice environment in which associates thrive.
- 3)Develop and implement strategies to monitor associate morale and issues or concerns and to recognize associate accomplishments.
- 4)Conduct timely performance reviews which include peer review for Registered Nurses.
- 5)Facilitate the participation of nurses in shared governance activities at the house wide and unit level.
- 6)Develop an annual retention plan with consideration for the cultural and generational composition of the work group.
- Budget Management
- 1)Formulate the annual budget in collaboration with the department director ensuring appropriate fiscal and human resources to achieve department and organizational goals.
- 2)Monitor daily productivity, analyze variances and benchmarking data to ensure achievement of financial goals.
- 3)Identify areas for improved operation efficiency and utilize a LEAN approach for improvements.
- Executes for Optimal Outcomes in Service, Quality, and Safety
- 5)Ensures compliance with health laws and regulatory bodies.
- 6)Builds appropriate rapport with the interdisciplinary team and support departments by establishing trust and mutual purpose and actively engaging in two-way communication to ensure mutual clarity and positive outcomes.
- 1)Ensures consistent implementation of the Advocate Experience to include daily rounding on patients and families, consistent use of AIDET and the white boards, bedside shift report, and timely resolution of patient complaints and concerns.
- 2)Prioritizes and plans work with data-driven, outcome-focused approach.
- 3)Promotes and supports evidence based practice, research and innovation.
- 4)Utilizes the nursing quality infrastructure and operations improvement resources for consistent analysis of health outcome data and initiation of improvement efforts as appropriate to ensure the achievement of health outcome goals.
Licensure:
- Nurse, Registered (RN)
Education/Experience Required:
- BSN 3+ years of leadership experience
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:
- Planning and delegation skills Team building, leadership and communication skills Ability to execute for outcomes Change management skills
- Current RN license in state of Illinois
Physicial Requirements and Working Conditions:
- Ability to work within a rapidly changing environment. Ability to prioritize independently and respond to multiple demands in a timely fashion. ability to work under stressful conditions.
