Monday – Friday 8:00am – 5:00pm and non-traditional business hours as necessary for business needs.
Major Responsibilities
Oversee and lead the pre-arrival authorization teams, enterprise wide, ensuring efficient and accurate processing of each account.
Build and develop a highly effective team to provide oversight for staffing productivity and throughput, complaint resolution, and payor policy support. Including HR responsibilities for managing complex staffing issues and teammate relations problems that are escalated .
Develop and execute strategies to improve the pre-service hospital authorization process, aiming for consistency, accuracy, quicker approvals, reduced administrative burdens, and excellent customer service.
Foster effective communication and collaboration with internal and external providers, insurance companies, and key stakeholders to navigate authorization challenges in established processes and to design and develop workflows for new services that require authorization.
Stay abreast of healthcare regulations and insurance policies, ensuring that the pre-service authorization process complies with legal and industry standards.
Collaborate with finance and administrative teams to monitor and streamline financial processes, and to manage budget censuring cost effectiveness, resource optimization, and quality. Develops and recommends operating and capital budgets. Ensures expenditures support approved budget objectives.
Ensure standardization of training, performance, and outcomes across all authorization teams. Oversee continual performance improvement activities to improve quality and increase reimbursement through improved demographic, insurance, and data capture. Ensure data capture sufficient to support payor, quality, and DEI initiatives across the enterprise.
Performs human resources responsibilities for staff which include interviewing and selection of new employees, promotions, staff development, performance evaluations, compensation changes, resolution of employee concerns, corrective actions, terminations, and overall employee morale.
Develops and recommends operating and capital budgets and controls expenditures within approved budget objectives.
