Schedule Details/Additional Information:
Hours: Monday through Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM, though flexibility is required.On-Call Duties: May be required to be on-call for emergencies or equipment issues.Weekend or Holiday Coverage: Occasionally needed, especially in 24/7 hospital environments.Staff Scheduling Oversight: Responsible for creating and managing schedules for technologists across multiple modalities ensuring adequate coverage.
Management of all diagnostic imaging activities of the departments.
1)Oversees daily departmental operation in conjunction with modality coordinators.
2)Works with coordinators/supervisors in each modality to ensure follow through of established imaging protocols.
3)Implements changes in policies and procedures when appropriate.
4)Works in concert with department chairman and director to identify future needs of all departments and plans appropriately.
5)Monitors productivity levels to ensure proper utilization of staff and resources.
6)Assist RIS quality support associate to update annually appropriate CPT coding changes to charge master.
Coordination and guidance of staff members in each of the areas within the department.
1)Interviews and hires candidates for employment.
2)Develops and maintains departmental orientation program.
3)Reviews technologist’s schedule on a monthly basis, planning for vacation, leave of absence and training sessions.
4)Conducts performance appraisals and recommends salary adjustments for direct reports.
5)Conducts coaching/progressive discipline meetings.
6)Utilizes Advocate South Suburban Hospital sponsored training programs to develop or enhance employee skills.
7)Provides prompt feedback on behavior to employees.
8)Builds an open communication atmosphere for employees, using tools such as staff meetings and one-on-one talks to encourage communication.
9)Provides timely patient movement in the department.
10)Follows approved Advocate South Suburban Hospital Human Resources policy and procedure. Ensures Age Specific competencies are maintained for all caregivers.
Responsible for financial control over the Radiology Department within Advocate guidelines.
4)Plans and administers and annual budget and monitors budgetary expenditures, reports and justifies variances on an on-going basis.
5)Assures efficient utilization of staff, supplies and equipment.
6)Develops new and expanding program proposals with costs / budget implications.
7)Assists is the development of major equipment proposals.
8)Assist with the development of feasibility studies for capital expenditure projects.
1)Authorizes and coordinates all functions related to expense control by approving invoices and purchase orders.
2)Purchases supplies, negotiating the most economical purchase price.
3)Reconciles patients’ charges in coordination with the Business Office.
Development and participation in educational and quality improvement activities.
5)Maintains memberships in professional and community organizations.
1)Attends Advocate/South Suburban Hosptial managerial meetings.
2)Participates in South Suburban Hospital committees, including CQI and Department of Radiology.
3)Develops quality plans for the department.
4)Develops and maintains technologist continuing education program.
Education/Experience Required:
– 7yrs diagnostic imaging experience, at least 5yrs in hospital supervision. – BS or equivalent – Graduate of an accredited school of radiology technology or other Imaging Modality program – Knowledge of PACS/RIS
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:
– Knowledge of clinical information systems. – Ability to anticipate patient, employee and department needs and refer for action. – Ability to communicate and negotiate with staff at all levels, including physicians and administrators. – Excellent communication skills, ability to work well with others, team building skills. – Knowledge of healthcare finance. Ability to develop budget. – Demonstrated experience in performance improvement techniques. – Strong PC skills
– IEMA current licensure – AART, ARDMS or NMTCB Registered – CPR Certified – Certified Radiology Administrator Preferred
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
– Able to handle administrative on-call duties – Able to provide technical support for staff – Disaster on-call This position can recognize needs and behaviors of the following age groups: Children (1-12 yrs.), Adolescents (13-16 yrs.), Adults (19-70 yrs.), Geriatrics (70 yrs and up). Evidence of this can be shown by recognizing levels of development and modifying approach and exhibiting communication skills necessary to interpret age specific responses.
