Major Responsibilites:

Site Sepsis Coordinator

Facilitates, plans, implements, and evaluates the sepsis program including all systems necessary for multidisciplinary hospital team collaboration

In collaboration with the CMO and quality leadership, sets annual goals for the sepsis programs, which includes development, implementation, and evaluation of strategies to achieve the annual goals. Establishes, implements and/or assists with the development and review of the sepsis programs policies, procedures and order sets and reports quality data to the Quality Committee quarterly and the Quality and Safety Council annually.  Co-chairs on-site sepsis committee meetings. Supports and ensures committees completes all work assignments.

Synthesize and interprets multiple data sources to monitor metrics designed to evaluate the efficacy of sepsis practices across the care continuum.

Remain abreast of all appropriate federal, state, and local regulations and guidelines including Advocate Aurora polices and protocol changes.

Round on septic patients in the emergency and inpatient settings and collaborate with the clinical team to develop and implement sepsis bundles and best practice plans of care

Sepsis Research with Evidenced based Practice and Research Provides sepsis Education Must be able to demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served. Must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his/her age-specific needs, and to provide the care needed as described in the department's policies and procedures. Age-specific information is developed further in the departmental job standards.

Minimum Education and Experience Required:

Licensure, Registration, and/or Certification Required: Nurse, Registered Nurse ( RN)

Education Required: Bachelor's in Nursing required 3 years critical care or emergency experience.

Experience Required: Experience in leading, influencing, and motivating teams. Organizational Skills, data analysis and project management preferred

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:

  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
  • Strong leadership skills.
  •  Ability to teach, motivate, and influence team members
  • Clinical competence in hemodynamics and care of the critically ill patient.
  • Advanced computer skills in managing projects, presentations, and data collection.
  • Current RN License in the State of Illinois licensure in BLS Certified & ACLS Certified

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

  • Must be able to operate all equipment essential to performing the duties of the job. Must be able to sit, stand, walk, and lift throughout the workday.
