Schedule Details/Additional Information:
Monday – Friday – 8:00am -4:30pmcan be flexible with start/stop times
Major Responsibilities:
Provide financial and insurance counseling services.
1)Counsel members regarding all aspects of Medicare Part A and Part B and their supplemental insurance(s).
2)Schedule appointments with members.
3)Assist, organize and file insurance claims on behalf of clients.
4)Follow-up with client and/or insurance payor to insure that all claims have been resolved.
5)Inform client of any financial obligation in a timely manner.
6)Maintains complete confidentiality of patient records.
7)Advises customers on Advocate managed care programs.
Process enrollment applications.
1)Check for completeness of application.
2)Verify insurance information given with insurance company.
3)Enter enrollment information into the computer.
4)Issue membership card and introduction letter to new member.
Visit Nursing Homes and Senior Centers.
1)Visit Nursing Homes, Retirement Centers, other locations and sites to assist those unable to come in for services.
2)Visit Senior Centers to introduce and offer services as appropriate.
3)During Advocate system wellness programs travel to various locations to act as representative to market and register clients.
Support established and new relationships.
1)Contact physicians and their staff when appropriate to inform them of your assistance to one of their patients.
2)Visit or contact various hospital areas and older adult system programs to develop an association that will benefit our patients and members.
Acquire and maintain knowledge of computer systems.
1)Read all correspondence from Information Systems regarding changes and updates to the in-house billing and registration systems.
2)Attend all training sessions.
Support hospital philosophy and departmental financial limits.
1)Demonstrate exceptional guest relations skills.
2)Maintain awareness of budget guidelines.
3)Inform supervision of all information received that impacts benefits to the program, hospital or system.
Assumes others responsibilities as assigned by supervision.
1)Review daily admissions and expirations.
2)Insure that Senior Advocate member information is current
3)Informs Hospital Insurance Verification Unit of all variables and corrections.
4)Tabulate monthly member activity for management reporting.
Education/Experience Required:
High School graduate. 1 year experience in health care. Some background working with older adults.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:
Good communication skills. Ability to work as part of a team. Some computer knowledge. Some knowledge of insurances.
None required.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
Excellent attendance and punctuality record. Able to make independent decisions. Capability of traveling to and performing services at other locations.
If position has direct patient care or direct patient contact the following lifting requirement supersedes any previous lifting requirement effective 06/01/2015. Ability to lift up to 35 pounds without assistance. For patient lifts of over 35 pounds, or when patient is unable to assist with the lift, patient handling equipment is expected to be used, with at least one other associate, when available. Unique patient lifting/movement situations will be assessed on a case-by-case basis.
