Division Executive Strategy & Business Development will have a dual reporting to the Enterprise Leader (Core Growth) for strategic alignment, consistency, and enterprise resources, and to the Division President for local execution, performance, accountability, and career development.
Develops and leads the Division strategic business plan across all areas, care settings and defined prioritized service lines to drive strategic priorities and profitable growth. Serves as a core member of the Enterprise Business Development leadership team, and the Division Leadership Executive Council, and Leadership Table.
Division Executive Strategy & Business Development will have Business Development leaders in the service areas and physician outreach teammates reporting directly to them and will be supported by a centralized Enterprise services team with Core Growth resources being part of the enterprise budget.
Major Responsibilities:
Develops and leads the Division strategic business planning initiatives and processes and business development priorities across all areas, care settings and defined service lines to drive driving the execution of the Divisions’ strategic priorities (including sophisticated competitive intelligence and strategic planning at the division level).
Monitors performance against plan milestones and expectations. Regularly evaluates evolving market conditions relative to strategic and business plan assumptions and adjusts the strategic direction with a competitive advantage on an on-going basis.
Is a delegate and extension of the Division president in key external executive, payor and competitive relations and partnerships. Ensure credible and current access to strategic market intelligence; area landscapes, monitors and analyzes trends in the environment.
Divisionally leads and is responsible for the strategy and business development team assigned to the Division and areas, who are responsible for the development, and execution of the division business and annual growth plan, as well as the financial performance, directly linked to the divisional budget and enterprise performance, for all service delivery assets of Advocate Health within the assigned areas.
Directs and prioritizes the physician liaison outreach efforts, across the division and assigned geographic areas, to align with most significant business growth opportunities, prioritized targeted initiatives, new physicians and services, and new service delivery openings, capturing market intelligence and providing operational insights to clinical leadership for access and real-time geographic feedback, sharing physician alignment opportunities with divisional teams for growth, and collaborates with Enterprise Core Growth leadership to assure compliant performance activity and performance monitoring.
Establishes, develops, and maintains critical, strategic key physician relationships as identified by Division President to advance priority business strategies and drive appropriate physician alignment opportunities.
Serves as a key liaison and executive extension between the Division Executive core team and the Enterprise Strategy team to ensure awareness, alignment, and appropriate resources allocation to achieve strategic goals/priorities and connectivity to achieve and execute enterprise strategies.
Provides Divisional direction and oversight of the Certificate of Need (CON) and Regulatory processes where required by the assigned state(s), partnering with appropriate state-based government relations, finance, facilities, operational, and compliance leaders to ensure and plan for successful application development submissions and long term growth and success in respective geographies. Monitoring and staying abreast of changing regulatory landscapes, partnering with government relations for relevant state-based policy changes and committee placements, and working with area and divisional leaders for capital planning, board approvals and ECAB process alignment. Collaborate with Enterprise Core Growth team to assure appropriate staff support is assigned to the division.
Strong collaboration and partnership with operations, clinical leadership team and finance in the development of capital planning to include the preparation and financial lookbacks, physician alignment and/or acquisition strategy and provide objective research and analysis, including development of comprehensive business plans, that enables leadership teams to make informed decisions and achieve strategic growth.
Serves as point with Division president to explore, research, and advance in and near geographic merger and acquisitions and relevant business partnership opportunities to drive strategic and accretive growth.

Education Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in business, or

Bachelor’s degree in health care administration, or bachelor’s degree in marketing or related field.

Master’s Degree Preferred or equivalent experience.
Experience Required:
Typically requires 15 years of experience in health care growth and business development that includes experience in developing and executing strategic plans and building relationships with physicians, the community, and businesses. Includes 10 years of management experience in the management of staff, budgets, and multiple business development and strategic functions, with proven experience driving accretive financial growth and advancing organizational strategic priorities.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:

Demonstrated expertise in business development activities such as relationship building strategies, promoting products/services, and experience in meeting financial targets.

Skills and experience in developing and executing business plans. Expert level consultative and problem-solving skills.

Excellent leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills.

Proficiency in finance concepts and applications that would be important to develop a business plan; Ability to partner with Finance lead(s) to develop business proformas that support growth initiatives.

Understanding of employed and independent physician practice models. Fundamental understanding of managed care/insurance risk.

Knowledge of how to optimize resources invested in various business development, marketing, and public relations activities.

Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office (Excel, Access, PowerPoint and Word) or similar products.

Proven ability to build physician relationships to advance key business strategies desired.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
