Schedule Details/Additional Information:

​5 South West Allis Medical: Stroke/ACE Med/Surg

  • Excellent unit to build foundational skills and knowledge
  • Supportive of newly licensed RN's through Preceptorship and Nurse Residency
  • Patient population: Stroke, Seizures, Diabetes, Kidney disease, Alzheimers, Dementia, Electrolyte Imbalance, Mental Health
  • Gain certifications in NIHSS, Certified Med/Surg Specialty
  • Continuous learning opportunities with medical/surgical patients through a wide variety of patient diagnosis, chronic conditions and treatment plans.

Schedule:

  • Full Time Nights, 12-hour shifts with every third weekend

Develop and expand your practice with the following:

  • Build foundational skills and knowledge through Nurse Residency and Preceptor directed orientation.
  • Skills acquired: time mangement, triaging accountabilites, communication skills, pharmacology, lab interpretation, pathophysiology of disease process through a variety of med/surg patients with acute and chronic conditions.
  • Continuity of patient care through 12-hour shifts, patient centered care and team minded support.
  • Develop collaborative relationships with a resourceful multi-disciplinary team.
  • Coordinate comprehensive patient care through the nursing process to deliver safe, therapeutic care in accordance with established standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Be a valued member of a highly skilled, resilient, and versatile nursing team committed to ensuring the delivery of quality and compassionate healthcare to diverse patient populations.

Licensure, Registration, and/or Certification Required:

  • Registered Nurse license issued by the state in which the team member practices.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA).

Education Required:

  • Completion of an accredited or approved program in Nursing.

Experience Required:

  • Newly Licensed RN's and Experienced RN's Welcome!

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

  • Must be able to sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, reach above shoulders, and twist frequently throughout the workday.
  • Must be able to:
  • lift up to 50 lbs. from floor to waist.
  • lift up to 20 lbs. over the head.
  • carry up to 40 lbs. a reasonable distance.
  • Must be able to:
  • push/pull with 30 lbs. of force.
  • perform a sliding transfer of 150 lbs. with a second person present.
  • Position requires use of foot pedals on carts or machines.
  • May be exposed to chemical and hazardous waste as well as blood and body fluids and communicable disease. Therefore, protective clothing and equipment must be worn as necessary.
  • Must have functional speech, vision, hearing, and touch with ability to use fine hand manipulation skills for IV insertion and other procedures/functions.
  • Operates all equipment necessary to perform the job.
