Position will be to cover 5-6 days a month.Working 12:30pm to 9:00pm.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Supervise food and nutrition hospital wide activities to ensure overall provision of quality patient and customer care are consistent with Advocate Mission and Philosophy and policies and procedures.
    •     1) Demonstrates working knowledge of standards of sanitation requirements.
    •     2)Provides leadership and direction to all food and nutrition personnel through interpretation and support of hospital mission, goals, objectives, policies, procedures and the philosophy of Advocate.
    •     3) Facilitates quality customer relations as Administrative representative.
    •     4) Collaborates and supports patients and families, and associates during times of crises and/or ethical issues.
    •     5) Communicates consistent and accurate information to public relations for release to the media
    •     6)Addresses unusual patient, visitor and staff issues. Makes appropriate referrals for follow up.
  • Maintain ongoing operations of the hospital during absence of administrative personnel. Rounds to monitor and assure the appropriateness of care and staff performance is in alignment with advocate’s customer service philosophy. Addresses personnel issues in order to promote a productive and health work environment and forwards concerns to Clinical Nurse Manager.
    •     1) Supports and directs associates as needed to ensure timely resolution of problems and effective implementation of objectives.
    •     2) Communicates significant concerns to the directors, quality management and/or administrator on-call for appropriate follow-up.
    •     3) Directs associates as needed to meet hospital standards, objectives and MVP
  • Coordinates resource management. Coordinates information and assures effective communications between hospital departments. Monitors operations and procedures, and facilitates processes that result in the continous improvement of the overall hospital productivity and effectiveness. Serves as a leader on teams to improve and enhance performance of self, staff and patients.
    •     1) Provides direction to associates to locate appropriate supplies and equipment needed for operations
    •     2)Acts as point of contact for any issues relating to equipment failure. Analyzes situation and creates a solution to minimize impact of operations.
    •     3)Assesses associate coverage and adjusts as necessary to maximize personnel resources.
  • Contributes and supports programs designed for continued improvement of operations and enhancement of the work environment.
    •     4)Collaborates with directors/managers and Human Resource personnel to address matters of a disciplinary nature and administers immediate disciplinary actions when necessary
    •     1) Active involvement in project work, committees, and task forces as requested by the manager.
    •     2) Attends required meetings for department and other committees as assigned with active participation.
    •     3) Active involvement in the quality and performance enhancement process.
  • Finance related activities
    •     1)Oversees alll retail cash control processes and assures accurate and timely revenue deposits on a daily basis. Appropriately follows up discrepancies according to cash handling policies.
    •     2)Assists in development of department budget by providing input based on the department needs and ensures adherence to daily activities that impact the budget- including but not limited to food waste, food portioning recipe compliance, overtime, productivity.

Education/Experience Required:

  • Associate degree or equivalent. 3 years Food service related experience 1 years of supervisory experience preferable in a food service environment

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:

  • Ability to proficiently speak, read and write English as related to essential job activities. Articulate in communication. Strong organizational, motivational problem solving and supervisory skills. Proficient knowledge of computer applications and systems.. Demonstrated ability to manage, motivate and develop staff.
  • Illinois Department of Public Health Food Service Sanitation Manager certificate or obtain in first 90 days

Physicial Requirements and Working Conditions:

  • Excellent interpersonal skills Excellent flexibility Ability to communicate with customers in various mediums- verbal, email, text as appropriate Able to work flexible hours which includes holidays, nights and weekends. Able to meet time constraints in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to lift up to 35 pounds without assistant. For lifts greater than 35 pounds, lifting equipment is expected to be used or lift with at least one other associate when available.
