Schedule Details/Additional Information:
Lead Nuclear Medicine Technologist would be responsible to cover all shifts, holidays and on call responsibilities as needed by the department.
Additional responsibilities will include Nuclear Medicine Department ACR accreditation, hospital dosimeters, equipment QA, partner with physicists to ensure department compliance, staff work schedules and staff training.
Improves Customer Satisfaction/Service, through maintenance of effective working relations with both internal and external customers to ensure quality patient care.

Manages Quality of Care, through development and implementation and evaluation of standards to facilitate quality patient care
1)Checks all requisitions making sure all tests are ordered correctly by Registration and Nursing units and entered in the HIS/RIS.
2)Ensures proper use of equipment and notifies appropriate service engineer/supervisor of any equipment malfunction.
3)Creation and maintenance of reports and statistical data relative to diagnostic exams of the department
4)Reviews monthly statistical reports indicating trends and variances
5)Complies with the established radiation safety standards, OSHA safety standards, infection control, and IEMA & Accrediting Organization regulations.
6)Participates in maintaining the policies, procedures, and standards that follow American College of Radiology (ACR), Federal Drug Administration (FDA), IEMA,OSHA, IDPH, Infection Control, and other appropriate agencies.
7)Where applicable, maintains all accreditations of the department
8)Determination of appropriate techniques and position patient for specified exam.
9)Positions patient and operates equipment to assure appropriate demonstration of designated portion of the body is obtained as specified by physician.
10)Determines appropriate technique based on anatomy and patient’s condition to obtain high quality radiographs. k. Obtains relevant patient history. l. Labels radiographs film according to department standards. m. Processes radiographs according to manufacture specifications.

8) Aid in staff evaluations. Provide manager with feedback citing specific examples of appropriate vs. inappropriate behavior.

1) Organizes and coordinates all diagnostic exams
2) Assures efficient coordination of technologists, aides, and students’ activities, scheduling staff to meet the needs of the department.

4)Adjust day-to-day staffing levels efficiently, to meet the needs of all customers
5)Approve all PTO time maintaining a copy of PTO requests
6) Create and maintain monthly, weekly, and call staff schedules with adherence to budgeted FTE.

5)Conduct monthly staff meetings and records minutes. Review and discuss technologist and radiologists concerns. Report issues and suggestions to Diagnostic Manager.
6)Meets with Vendors and Clinical Engineering regarding upgrades to existing equipment And planning of future equipment purchases.

Financial. Participate in the development of departmental budgets (supplies and personnel

5)Communicates status of equipment problems and repair to appropriate staff and physician Users within the section

7)Provide input on capital equipment needs for the department
8)Assist Manager in developing yearly operating budgets
Prepares and administers radiopharmaceuticals and procedural adjunctive medication by proper route per clinician prescription and according to approved exam parameters. Competently performs venipuncture and placement of peripheral IV catheters for medication administration. Accesses other vascular access devices, as determined by department training and need. Follows correct procedures for handling radioactive materials. Understands and implements ALARA measures. Maintains accurate records of pharmaceutical doses.
Education/Experience Required:
-3 years experience in related field -Associate or Certificate of Radiology Technology -Supervisory experience preferred
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:
-Good communications skills -Good interpersonal skills -Good customer relations
Either ARRT Registration or NMTCB IDNS License CPR Certification
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
Knowledge of all areas of the department. Ability to work under stressful and/or difficult situations May be exposed to radiation during procedures and stand for long periods. May be required to lift and move patient. May be exposed to hazardous material and infectious diseased.
If position has direct patient care or direct patient contact the following lifting requirement supersedes any previous lifting requirement effective 06/01/2015. Ability to lift up to 35 pounds without assistance. For patient lifts of over 35 pounds, or when patient is unable to assist with the lift, patient handling equipment is expected to be used, with at least one other associate, when available. Unique patient lifting/movement situations will be assessed on a case-by-case basis.
