Regular Business Hours in-person, 24/7 responsibility over the departments
Major Responsibilities:
Coordination and administration of all daily operational aspects to provide effective quality care for patients.
- Plans and directs the administrative and operational functions to maximize patient revenues, attract new patients, and meet regulatory requirements.
- Prepares and administers the department operating and capital budgets to ensure sufficient funds and personnel to accomplish departmental objectives within approved financial guidelines.
- Monitors department productivity levels and work functions to ensure proper staff and resource utilization. Ensures the development of staff within the department.
- Identifies areas for operational efficiency improvements and implements changes.
- Develops and implements KRA's for Division. Monitors weekly/monthly and facilitates improvements as required.
- Assures patient, associate and physician satisfaction goals are being met.
- Oversight of leadership development in area.
Development and implementation of strategic plans that integrate the goals of Advocate Health Care/Good Shepherd's philosophy and strategic plans.
- Develops and implements long and short-range goals, objectives, tactics, and policies/procedures for the service line consistent with strategic plans; this is inclusive of the interface with other functional areas.
- Investigates, researches, and recommends for implementation new methods of patient care delivery, spanning continuum of care.
- Plans and implements new services. Determines the fiscal feasibility of establishing new or expanded services including the reimbursement component, service line profitability, training needs for staff, availability of services, etc.
- Markets and promotes in conjunction with other departments involved in the service line success. Continually monitors the service line growth and maintenance and recommends marketing strategies based on observed statistics and market needs and trends. Works with public relations to develop brochures, pamphlets, marketing tools, etc.
- Conducts competitor analysis to determine program growth and market share and to keep abreast of any trends or changes. Develops and oversees the compilation of strategical information to be used for current operations and future planning. Develops and implements business plan for service line.
- Leads strategic planning, marketing, and new program development efforts which include ongoing collaboration with hospital and corporate management.
Development and implementation of quality and process improvement initiatives to ensure continual analyses and improvement in clinical outcomes.
- Oversees divisional Performance Improvement initiatives and monitors interdisciplinary involvement in clinical performance improvement projects.
- Promotes patient safety proactively creating a culture of safety with the division. Also includes reporting of issues through established channels and participating as requested in safety initiatives.
- Facilitates and oversees the Performance Improvement Programs for areas of responsibility to assure adherence to corporate standards and regulatory agencies.
- Monitors changes in Accrediting Organization/governmental standards and make changes in Good Shepherd policy and procedure accordingly.
- Develop policies, procedures and standards that adhere to regulatory standards.
- Ensures follow through on all initiatives and sustainment of outcomes on all process improvement initiatives.
- Uses current evidence to lead problem solving in area of practice.
- Monitors changes in national clinical practice standards and ensures timely adoption in area of practice.
- Leads the adoption of research as a method to contribute to innovation in clinical and leadership science.
- Ensures incorporation of best available evidence-based practice in area of responsibility.
Development and ongoing maintenance of collaborative relationships with department managers/directors, physicians, systemwide contacts, and related external contacts in order to meet program objectives.
- Develops and maintains relationships with physicians as well as other hospital managers/directors and staff.
- Monitors impact of services on all other hospital services. Notifies other areas impacted by new and/or expanded services in order that planning for those services can be accomplished.
- Acts as a liaison between physicians and other hospital departments to help resolve and troubleshoot problems.
- Develops and maintains various relationships with external clients/contacts to promote department and ensure department growth.
- Serves as Administrative representative to Department Meetings.
- Collaborates with peers system-wide to develop standardized protocols, products, contracts and expected outcomes.
Responsible for professional and personal growth and development.
- Keeps abreast of current standards of care and standards of regulatory bodies.
- Maintains membership in professional and community organizations.
- Participates in activities to enhance professional growth and development by involvement in professional organizations and continuing education.`
Licensure:
Nurse, Registered (RN)
Education/Experience Required:
Graduate from an accredited school of nursing. Masters in administration, business or nursing. Five years progressive experience in health care management. Demonstrated leadership of multiple departments which represent a broad portfolio of responsibility.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:
