Registered Nurse (RN) – Department
Elkhorn, WI United States
Where You Will Work:
The Labor & Delivery/Recovery/Postpartum/Women’s Health Unit is located on the 3rd floor and features 14 beds, including a Level 1 nursery. Renovated in 2018, the unit provides comprehensive care for labor, delivery, recovery, and postpartum patients, with Cesarean sections performed in a dedicated C-section suite. We follow AWHONN staffing guidelines, maintaining core staffing of three nurses, one surgical tech, and one OB tech around the clock, supported by a HUC Monday through Friday for 12 hours per day, as well as a dedicated Nursing Professional Development Specialist and Manager. The average daily census is approximately four mother-baby pairs, with patient stays ranging from 1–3 days depending on delivery type. While no specific skills are required—training is provided—preferred qualifications include prior experience, NRP, and STABLE certification. Our unit is proud to be the first Baby-Friendly hospital in Wisconsin and has been recognized as a U.S. News & World Report Best Maternity Hospital for four consecutive years. We offer seven-day-a-week lactation support, 24/7 in-house Neonatal NPs, and anesthesia coverage. All nurses are cross-trained in labor and delivery, postpartum, well-baby nursery, and GYN care, and we also accept post-op GYN patients. RN call coverage averages 40 hours per six-week period. We are seeking team players who are compassionate and committed to lifelong learning.
We’re Looking For:
- Completion of an accredited or approved program in nursing
- Registered Nurse license issued by the state in which the teammate practices
- Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Enter additional preferences for candidate qualifications and per the Division Specific Nursing Education Tables Enterprise Nursing Hub
What You’ll Do:
- As a skilled and compassionate RN, you will play a pivotal role in providing and coordinating comprehensive patient care through the nursing process to deliver safe, therapeutic care in accordance with established standards, policies, and procedures.
- Using evidence-based practice, clinical decision making, compassion, and skills communication while leading efforts to create the safest patient environment and the best patient experience across the continuum.
