Registered Nurse – Home Health

Major Responsibilities:

The RN in Advocate Health Care’s Home Health division plays a vital role in delivering high-quality nursing care to homebound patients across Illinois. This position involves managing patient care from assessment through evaluation, fostering strong therapeutic relationships with patients and caregivers, and coordinating medical needs with a multidisciplinary team. The nurse helps patients transition from hospital to home, promoting independence and preventing rehospitalization. Responsibilities include documenting care at the point of service, educating patients and families, and supporting the professional development of peers. The RN also demonstrates leadership, clinical expertise, and collaboration with other healthcare professionals to ensure holistic, cost-effective care. Visits are made to private residences, which may present accessibility challenges, and the role requires physical capability to assist with patient mobility.
Licensure, Registration, and/or Certification Required:

  • Current Illinois RN license
  • Current CPR

Education Required:

  • Graduate from an accredited school of nursing

Experience Required:

  • One year of medical surgical experience in an acute or subacute care facility

Physical Therapist – Home Health

Major Responsibilities:

Physical Therapists working with Advocate at Home enjoy having their own enterprise with a backing of a reputable, stable, and values driven organization.  As part of a dynamic clinical team within Advocate’s vast integrated health care organization, home health offers the therapist the opportunity to work independently to assess and address the mobility, safety, communication and equipment needs of our patients.  As case managers, our therapists are able to establish strong relationships with patients and families and consult with physicians and other health care providers as necessary.

Licensure, Registration, and/or Certification Required:

  • Licensed Physical Therapist in the State of Illinois (or eligible for licensure).

Education Required:

  • Doctorate degree in Physical Therapy from an accredited school or educational requirements commensurate with the date of graduation.

Experience Required:

  • Completed 1 year of Physical Therapy clinical experience or demonstration of strong spectrum of Physical Therapy clinical affiliation experience.

Imaging

Major Responsibilities:

Imaging Professionals play a vital role in patient care and diagnostic excellence. They are responsible for patients safely to and from imaging areas, preparing exam rooms, and assisting technologists with procedures. Additionally, they manage and document patient information accurately, act as a liaison between physicians, technologists, and patients to ensure smooth communication and efficient workflow, and maintain imaging equipment while organizing necessary supplies.

Licensure, Registration, and/or Certification Required:

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) must be obtained within 6 months unless determined otherwise by the department leader

Education Required:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required

Experience Required:

  • We are willing to take newly graduated imaging students from accredited imaging programs

Types of Roles:

  • CT Technologist (Completion of an accredited radiologic technology program, plus CT-specific coursework or clinical training)
  • X-ray Technologist (Completion of an accredited radiography program)

Stationary Engineers

Advocate Christ Hospital is hiring a Stationary Engineer at its Oak Lawn, IL location. This full-time role includes eligibility for comprehensive benefits such as health coverage, retirement plans, paid time off, and career development programs. The position involves operating and maintaining mechanical systems such as boilers, chillers, HVAC systems, and medical gas equipment to ensure a safe and efficient hospital environment. Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, and other shifts is required.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Operate HVAC systems including boilers, chillers, cooling towers, and pumps to optimize efficiency and comfort.
    Maintain accurate logs and records using CMMS and logbooks.
  • Use Building Automation Systems (BAS) to monitor and control HVAC equipment; respond to alarms and optimize performance.
  • Perform preventive maintenance tasks such as inspection, cleaning, lubrication, testing, and minor repairs.
  • Troubleshoot HVAC issues and execute timely repairs with minimal disruption to hospital operations.
  • Respond professionally to building occupant complaints and communicate resolution status.
  • Maintain compliance with regulatory requirements through proper documentation.
  • Conduct general maintenance tasks including painting, plumbing, carpentry, lighting, and snow removal.
  • Read blueprints and manuals to support maintenance and repair tasks.
  • Complete service calls and work orders efficiently and document all work in CMMS.

Licensure, Registration, and/or Certification Required:

  • Stationary Engineer license from the municipality of work location or Power Engineer certification (1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th or 5th Class) from either the National Institute for the Uniform Licensing of Power Engineers (NIULPE) or the American Society of Power Engineers (ASOPE). Equivalent certifications from federal organizations such as the United States Navy will also be considered.
  • Valid Driver’s License

Education Required:

  • Advanced training beyond High School that includes the completion of technical training.

Experience Required:

  • 2–4 years of Stationary Engineering

Patient Transport (limited positions)

Major Responsibilities:

This position requires a dedicated individual to provide exceptional customer service in a fast-paced healthcare environment. You will coordinate patient transportation, ensure timely and efficient service, and safely and comfortably transport patients while maintaining a positive atmosphere.  Your duties will include assisting patients with transfers, monitoring their condition, and maintaining equipment. Strong physical fitness, attention to detail, and compassion are essential for success in this role.  Your duties can include monitoring transportation systems, scheduling staff, resolving issues, and promoting a collaborative team environment. Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills are essential for success in this role.

As a food service professional you will have the opportunity to ensure that our patients’ meals are delicious and our service to them is prompt and friendly. The brightest spot in a patient’s day is often when their food arrives. Whether in-room or in a cafeteria, your hospitality and welcoming demeanor will help to make our patients, along with their friends and family, feel comfortable, enhancing their recovery and overall wellness.

The main responsibilities involve preparing food service areas, delivering meals to patients, assembling patient food trays, ordering supplies, cleaning assigned areas, and following instructions. The ability to communicate and respond to phones is also important. The physical demands include frequent bending, lifting up to 35 pounds, and potentially working in awkward positions. The work environment can involve noise, fumes, and various weather conditions.
