Weekdays, M-F, Day Shift, occasional weekends and holidays

Major Responsibilities:
Assistant must be familiar with all our disposable supplies and equipment, abd be able to complete a daily inventory of supplies. The Assistant will clean and test all Respiratory life support equipment without error and keep a record of all rental equipment.
1)Clean all ventilators, cpap, bipap, and other equipment daily following the appropriate cleaning protocol for each.

2)Stock an adequate inventory of disposable supplies for approx 15 locations within the hospital daily.

3)Work closely with biomedical engineering with our preventative maintenance program for all equipment. Work with biomedical engineering for all broken equipment and make sure that equipment is returned without lengthy delays. Keep supervisors and Manager informed of broken equipment and follow-up with biomed to ensure a quick turn-around time.

4)Order supplies weekly and as needed to ensure that a minimum of a two week supply is maintained at all times. Inform supv/mgr of any back log.

5)Assemble and test all life support equipment and perform all safety checks and make sure that they are functional and ready for use on a patient.

6)Assist with the decontaminaton procedures to ensure all equipment is prepared for sterilization processing including wahing, druing, and bagging of equipment with sterilization gas indicators.

7)Monitor and track all rental equipment and verify invoices are correct before submitting to mgr for approval.

8)Monitor and record refrigerator temperature in the Respiratory Care Department.

Drop charges for all modalities in the sleep center and provide all clerical responsibilities assigned by the sleep center supervisor.

Education/Experience Required:
High School Diploma and ability to operate a computer. 6mths of relevant experience.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:
Strong interpersonal, problem solving, team building, and communication skills. Ability to work well under stressful situations. Ability to work flexible hours to meet the needs of the Respiratory Care Dept.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
The candidate must also be able to perform physical tasks in order to provide services such as bending, lifting, pushing, and responding quickly. The candidate must also be able to function well under stressful situations and be able to communicate effectively with personnel. The candidate must follow clean and safe practices to protect them from potentially hazardous situations and chemicals such as high pressure gas tanks as well as blood and bodily fluids. May be exposed to hazardous materials and diseases.
