Major Responsibilities
- Implements and monitors the organization’s medical equipment management plan for assigned scope to ensure patient/staff safety and regulatory compliance.
- Provides recommendations on service delivery options, vendor selection, and in-sourcing strategies based on financial and operational analyses. Monitors expenditures and recommends corrective actions for budget variances, ensuring purchasing activities comply with company policies and practices.
- Integrates medical imaging equipment maintenance for new facilities, mergers, and affiliated practices, ensuring assessment of existing programs, review of service agreements, and audit of inventory records.
- Reports imaging equipment reliability and performance data with clinical customers, site leadership and/or area leadership through the membership or ad hoc participation of respective committees, such as Physical Environment, monthly operational reviews, and other clinical department and/or service line groups. Oversees program compliance for both quality and regulatory standards and guidelines.
- Optimizes Clinical Engineering Imaging repair and maintenance support including, but not limited to, selection of service vendors, system service contracts, best practices, and policy and procedure development.
- Reviews equipment performance and service vendors to maintain the highest standards of patient care and safety. Responsible for expediting solutions, including but not limited to, replacing equipment or terminating service agreements.
- In collaboration with Clinical Engineering leaders, Service Line Leaders, and Supply Chain, supports development and maintenance of a multi-year area and/or enterprise imaging equipment plan which identifies and prioritizes systems requiring replacement, renovation, refurbishment, replacement or re-deployment. Provides resources to review the capital submittals for imaging equipment within their area, as requested.
- Ensure collaboration between Clinical Engineering Imaging support leaders and engineers with other Clinical Engineering, IT, and Service Line leaders to identify, allocate, and manage
- resources for imaging equipment-related projects, including planning for construction initiatives, conducting pre-purchase evaluations, researching vendors, assessing cost of ownership, and supporting medical equipment acquisitions.
- Develops and recommends operating and capital budgets and controls expenditures within approved budget objectives.
- Responsible for understanding and adhering to the organization's Code of Ethical Conduct and for ensuring that personal actions, and the actions of employees supervised, comply with the policies, regulations and laws applicable to the organization's business.
- Performs human resources responsibilities for staff which include interviewing and selection of new employees, promotions, staff development, performance evaluations, compensation changes, resolution of employee concerns, corrective actions, terminations, and overall employee morale.
Minimum Job Requirements
Education
- Associate’s degree in Electronics, Computer Science, Biomedical Engineering, Medical Imaging or related field.
Certification / Registration / License
- N/A
Experience
- Requires 10 years of experience in Clinical Engineering (including support of fixed and portable imaging) or equivalent technical discipline, and 3 years of supervisory experience in related areas.
